Isha Ray
Isha Ray is a member of the Energy and Resources Group (ERG) of the University of California at Berkeley since January 2002. Prior to ERG, she worked at the Turkey office of the International Water Management Institute.
Professor Ray’s research areas include water, information technology and sustainable development. Her research projects in India, China and Tanzania focus on access to water and sanitation for the rural and urban poor, and on the role of technology in improving livelihoods. Her research in California is focused on energy and climate change policies. A recent project conducted by Professor Ray was a public-private IT project in Kerala, India.
Originally from Calcutta, India, Isha Ray symbolizes the success story and global mobility of the modern, highly educated Indian elite.
She has a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Somerville College, Oxford University, and a PhD in Applied Economics from the Food Research Institute at Stanford University.
